Mr. Pacious has been a director of Valvoline since July 2023. He comes to Valvoline’s Board of Directors with significant expertise in areas such as franchise development and expansion, brand building, acquisitions, building an inclusive work environment, and technology transformation.
Mr. Pacious’ nearly 20-year tenure at Choice Hotels has been marked by growth, innovation and effectively anticipating and capitalizing on industry trends. With more than 7,400 hotels, representing over 625,000 rooms, in 45 countries and territories, Choice is one of the largest and most successful lodging franchisors in the world. Mr. Pacious joined Choice Hotels in 2005 holding several leadership positions throughout his two-decade career with the company. Immediately prior to being named CEO and President as well as Director in 2017, Mr. Pacious was the Company’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Pacious was named Lodging Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2022 and a “Best CEO for Women” by Comparably in 2023. Choice was also named to Forbes’ “Best Large Employers” and Fortune’s “Most innovative Companies” lists in 2023.
Mr. Pacious began his career in the U.S. Navy, serving as an officer following his graduation from Duke University with a B.A. in political science. After his career in the Navy, Pat earned his master’s in business administration from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
